TIME 100/AI is part of TIME. It is a prominent American news publication founded in 1923 known for its concise reporting on global events, politics, culture, science, and more while its yearly TIME 100/AI edition focuses on AI and new technologies expecting to build our future.
Global Kigyo Co., Ltd., the official representative of TIME in Japan, met RAMXEED’s CEO, Hidehisa Ueda, and interviewed him to have his viewpoint on his company and the industry.

While most people are familiar with the random access memory (RAM) in their computers and smartphones, fewer know about the rise of alternative memory—a new wave of chips offering faster speeds and lower power consumption. Japan’s RAMXEED has been a leader in FeRAM production for over 20 years, shipping more than 4.4 billion units worldwide to be used in the automotive, medical and FA industries, among others.
CEO Hidehisa Ueda sees strong potential ahead. “Our FeRAM is known for high-speed writing and does not require a battery,” he explains. “We expect rising demand, particularly for small, high-performance packages suited to edge AI applications.”
